Biodegradable Candle Holder made of artichoke bracts.
 
The artichoke candle holder was inspired by the dynamic yet poetic characteristics of the artichoke flower. The sacred plant, in all of its enlightening phases, demonstrated how the cycle works.
 
Every candle holder contains at least three globes of discarded artichoke bracts. This bioplastic composite has a high hardness and strength, is durable and hard-wearing, resistive to water, and dense. It can endure up to 15 years or more if handled properly. It can degrade in 24 days under controlled composting conditions.
 
This candle holder is biodegradable since it is made of upcycled artichoke bracts. It is manufactured by hand without the use of industrial machines, and the waste materials are acquired locally. Due to the handcrafted nature of the product and the properties of the waste matter that is used, colors and textures may vary slightly.
 
Atelier Barb's biodegradable products can be re-manufactured due to their zero-waste production technique; which means no by products throughout the manufacturing process. They use waste as a medium to form products that are equal parts unique and innovative.
